Alderman McKendrick voiced his concern over some of the proposed changes at Monday’s Strategic Planning and Policy Committee meeting.
The new plan would have restricted dogs from being at all sporting grounds, even on a lead.
Other elements of the changes proposed are designed to be more dog-friendly, with restrictions raised in many parts of the municipality.
A number of off-leash dog areas could also be changed into on-lead areas due to a lack of fencing.
The other key feature of the updated policy is the option to register your dog for life, rather than renew its registration yearly.
