Just weeks ago, RSPCA Launceston shelter had successfully adopted all but two of their cats out: now they’re capacity again.
Shelter manager Lorraine Hamilton said many cats that were turned in as strays were still not microchipped, meaning it was harder to find their home.
Ms Hamilton is calling on anyone who is looking for a new friend to consider adopting one of the more than 60 cats still awaiting a new home.
She said apart from the 66 cats in the shelter, the RSPCA has more than 30 younger cats and kittens in foster care.
All cats adopted through the shelter are microchipped, desexed, defleaed and wormed.
The shelter is open Monday-Saturday 10am to 4pm, and Sundays 10am to 2.30pm.
