Strong defensive pressure and steady feed into the goal circle gave the Hawks a seven-goal lead by the end of the first quarter with shooters Danni Pickett and Ashlea Mawer contributing to an increased lead in the second.
Dominant down court play during the third quarter kept the Hawks ahead, finally taking out an 81-45 win at the end of the last quarter. Zoe Claridge was named player of the match.
Meanwhile the Cavaliers went down by seven goals in Hobart against Cripps Waratah.
The first quarter was a tight race with Cavs leading by one goal 12-11, expanding to a four-goal lead in the second.
A number of costly passing errors and aggression from Cripps gave former Cav Sophia Saunders a chance and the Cripps crept ahead by three. Final scores saw Cripps take 44 to Cavs 37.
