Launceston builder Scott Jones, 48, took out first place ahead of his training partner Jobe Tai, his first competitive running win in the four seasons he has run with the Launceston Running Club.
Jones began running eight years ago and has had some success over ultra distances, including the inaugural 52 kilometre ultra distance event on Flinders Island.
Race organiser Frank Nott said Jones credited Johnno Claridge for his improvement.
Third place was taken by Peter Johnson who edged out Leanne Evans.
Zane Carr, 43, shaved more than 3 minutes off his 2005 time of 64.03 to finish fastest at 60.51.
Ultra distance champion Amy Lamprecht was the fastest woman ahead of Deb Pauna, who successfully contested the Lope for the twelfth time in 13 years.
