In a statement, organisers said all tickets that have been issued to 150.Action will be voided, with new tickets to be made available over the coming weeks.
Dark Mofo Creative Director Leigh Carmichael said the decision to cancel tickets was made after organisers became aware of an orchestrated disruption to the show by protesters.
“We believe the number of tickets affected is approximately 200, and therefore significant enough to pose credible concerns around disruption,” he said.
“It’s an unfortunate situation, and we regret the inconvenience caused to those who did manage to secure tickets early, however we need to start the ticket allocation process again, as the safety of the artist, performers, and audience members remains our first priority.”
The news was welcomed activist group, Animal Liberation Tasmania, who had set up a petition in opposition of the show.
“There are serious public health concerns regarding 150.Action, including the risk of diseases transmitted from livestock such as Q fever, and incidental food-borne illnesses from close contact with the carcass and blood,” said Kirsty Alger from the group.
“To date, we have utilised official means of opposition to this event via the appropriate authorities, and will continue to do so.
“Public safety is of course an issue that must be, and that we have always, considered in this matter."
A spokesperson for Dark Mofo said the organisers respected “people’s right to protest lawfully, provided they do so outside the event.”
