The Launceston woman overcame grade three breast cancer, something she said was simply part of her journey.
She spent two and half years receiving treatment and now, more than seven years later, she is free of the cancer and working to help support other women going through a similar experience.
A volunteer and community liaison for the Tasmanian Breast Cancer Network, Ms Rigby organised a pink lady bun event on Friday, raising funds for Breast Cancer Australia.
She said the event was about both raising awareness and supporting women struggling with their diagnosis.
“I struggled through my journey, I didn't have a lot of family support,” she said.
“It also gets the word out for get women to make sure they check themselves.”
The 47-year-old said her experience would always remain in the back of her mind, but she was trying to move forward and help others.
“You always think about it,” Ms Rigby said.
“I’ve met a lot of people along the way and if I can help people in the community then that’s a good thing.”
