The Blues defeated Burnie 3.5 (23) to 2.1 (13) at West Park following the bye and a 10-point opening round loss to Clarence at home.

On Sunday, they take on the last-placed Tigers at Windsor Park from noon.

“Going down to Burnie and getting the win in terrible conditions is going to become pretty valuable come the end of the year,” Gibbins said.

“We had even contributions across the board, which was good to see.”

Launceston duo Chanette Thuringer and Daria Bannister troubled the Dockers all day, while Naomi Celebre booted two goals.

Gibbins said the Blues would regain key contributors Courtney Webb, Portia Hamilton, Amy Cuthbertson and Syke Brown for the Roos’ stoush but have rested Ange Dickson, Kate Child and Jemma Retallick.

Danika Corcoran has also been ruled out with a minor knee complaint. 

“We are bringing a couple in and giving a couple of players a break and I’m expecting a pretty strong performance against a Hobart team that’s on the improve,” he said.

“On paper we should be better than them… [and] a game we expect to win at the start of the season.”

In the other round 4 match, unbeaten Clarence face its nearest rival Glenorchy at Geilston Bay Oval.

Burnie has the bye.
