“In this budget there’s $11 million in new money for marketing to stimulate and increase domestic and international visitation,” Mr Hodgman said.
Drysdale TAFE will emerge a winner with $3.2 million allocated to transform it into a tourism and hospitality “centre of excellence”.
A further $1.7 million will be put into developing the state’s visitor engagement strategy, workforce development initiatives, and destination action plans.
In a video message recorded for the Tasmanian Tourism Conference the Premier apologised for his absence from the conference but said the tourism industry would soon receive additional details on more funding for the sector.
He thanked the tourism industry for their contribution to the state’s reputation as a tourism hotspot.
The 2017 Tasmanian Tourism Conference is being held in Launceston on Wednesday and Thursday.
