Since 1971 Honorary Life Memberships have been bestowed on people like former long-serving secretaries Trevor Tyson (dec., awarded ‘73) and Trevor Smart, now aged 87 (awarded ‘86), long-time wood chopping co-ordinator Cedric Harrison (dec., awarded ‘76) and Steve Kerrison (dec. awarded 1980) who donated the materials to build the horse pavilion.
The life memberships were established initially to not only give free entry and other privileges to the recipients, but also to raise funds through the membership fee to help pay off the loan to build the sheep pavilion.
The new honor board will be unveiled at the official opening on Saturday and a new Honorary Life Member will also be announced.
