She’s a winning machine in Tasmania
- National racing web site lovethepunt.com.au
Even though she rides in a state that has only 65 meetings a year and has far less opportunities than most of the other leading female jockeys, Carr comes in at No. 8 on a star-studded list.
Melbourne Cup-winner Michelle Payne is rated No. 1.
Lovethepunt.com.au admits that its high rating of Carr “is probably a selection that will have plenty of people talking.”
“But the facts are she’s a winning machine in Tasmania,” it says.
“She finds herself second on the Tasmanian premiership this season with 44 wins, backing up her fourth placing on the premiership from last season when saluting on 52 occasions.
“When Carr has been afforded opportunities to ride in group company she has certainly made the most of them, taking out three group 3 races – the Hobart Cup on Geegees Blackflash, Breeders Stakes on Last Bullet and Spring Stakes on Red Eclipse.”
Lovethepunt.com.au is a partner platform of the well-respected racing web site G1X and its assessment team is headed by former group 1-winning jockey David Taggart.
Taggart said of Carr: “Siggy did a remarkable job as a mature-age apprentice while juggling motherhood. She continues to churn out winners in Tassie and is building a great career.”
Carr also rode successfully in Adelaide for 18 months and was dux of the South Australian Apprentice Academy.
She rode four winners at one city meeting at Morphettville.
The web site’s top 10 female riders are –

TSHAHITSI IN ECHUCA CUP
Tasmanian Newmarket winner Tshahitsi is due to run in Sunday’s $80,000 Echuca Cup over 1400 metres.
He has 57.5kg in the non-claiming race and Brendon McCoull is expected to ride him.
Trainers Chris Crook and Imogen Miller scratched Tshahitsi from a race at Flemington last Saturday after he drew a wide barrier.
Previously he finished a close fifth at Caulfield and luckless ninth at Flemington.
