Launceston trio Daria Bannister, Georgia Hill and Courtney Webb and East Launceston’s Amy Halaby and Mia King join players from Burnie and Glenorchy which AFL Tasmania's Leigh Elder said was an endorsement of the strength of the game in Launceston.
"Its been identified by us that the northern sector has tremendous talent and looks likely to continue producing great players," he said.
Elder is pleased to have such a large representation from Tasmania in the 37-strong squad that also includes players from South Australia, Tasmania and NT, with a team to be finalised at 26 players.
"We are pretty impressed with the amount of players we've got in which is a good indication of the talent we have been developing throughout Tasmania," Elder said.
The main criteria for selection was performances at the first phase of the national carnival, in South Australia, earlier this month.
Elder is not just excited by the talent of the Tassie contingent but also about the age profile.
