Northern Outlet
THERE is a suggestion of re-designing the Mowbray connector on the Northern outlet. The whole idea of building the outlet was to increase the traffic flow into the city from the Northern suburbs and the East Tamar area, thus alleviating congestion on the Mowbray hill and Invermay Road. To put traffic lights or a roundabout is probably the worst idea that they could come up with, you will still get accidents with both ideas plus impede the traffic flow into the city. Have the engineers or road designers ever heard of an overpass, this will stop traffic turning across oncoming traffic travelling at 80km or more.

HMAS Sydney
SAD the federal government is sending HMAS Sydney for disposal as "razor blades" in Western Australia rather than giving her to Tasmania as a diving wreck. All states except Tasmania have been given a dive wreck. Time for a last minute appeal by state government.

North Bank bridge
I HOPE that the bridge to link the Seaport with North Bank will not only be architecturally sound and exciting, but also importantly sound in aquatic engineering. We don’t want it to be swept away when the next 20-year, 50-year or 200-year flood occurs.

Drug testing
DRUG testing 5000 unemployed people will do nothing to address alcohol and cigarette addiction.

Sleeping outside
AS A homeless Tasmanian, I’d like to thank Leah Halliwell, Grant Hinchcliffe and all the people taking part in this year’s Vinnies CEO Sleepout at the University of Tasmania's Stadium, Launceston, on Thursday, June 22. I hope there is a stinker of a frost that night to give you a better understanding of what homeless people endure. Thank you all sincerely for doing your bit.
