Despite the continual rain throughout the day, a positive crowd enjoyed the first day of Tassie Trout Weekend.
Each year the trout weekend attracts thousands of visitors and celebrates the significance of the industry.
People can see hundreds of brown trout on their annual spawning migration, learn more about the species and practice casting skills.
To coincide with Tassie Trout Weekend, Primary Industries Minister Jeremy Rockliff announced five projects would receive a share in $161,700 for upgrades.
The projects include the construction of unisex toilets at Arthurs Lake, Penstock Lagoon and Bronte Lagoon, seating and barbecue facilities at Arthurs Lake and an angling platform at Four Springs Lake.
