Eight months after taking career-best figures to help Australia qualify for the women’s World Cup, Tasmanian Kristen Beams has been called up for the tournament.

The 32-year-old leg spinner from Exeter took 4-15 including five maidens and a strike-rate of just 1.50 to see the Southern Stars to victory at Sri Lanka’s Rangiri Dambulla Stadium last September.

It helped confirm Australia’s place for next month’s World Cup in England for which the country’s 15-player squad was named on Thursday.

Named alongside fellow leg-spinner Amanda-Jade Wellington, Beams has 28 wickets at 22.82 from her 22 ODIs.

  • Australian squad: Sarah Aley, Kristen Beams, Alex Blackwell (vc), Nicole Bolton, Ashleigh Gardner, Rachael Haynes, Alyssa Healy, Jess Jonassen, Meg Lanning (c), Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry, Megan Schutt, Belinda Vakarewa, Elyse Villani, Amanda-Jade Wellington
