The Tasmanian-set show that airs on the ABC and written by Celia Pacquola and Luke McGregor will receive $300,000 in the state budget next week.
Premier Will Hodgman said Rosehaven had “charmed Australians and the second season will see the state projected into living rooms around the world.”
A new deal for the series has been struck by Sundance Channel in the US, which will see it stream on Sundance Now in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
“Tasmania’s locations won’t be the only stars with a number of locals including Luke McGregor, Katie Robinson, Kris McQuade and Noela Foxcroft returning with lead roles in the series,” Mr Hodgman said.
The series is a What Horse?/Guesswork Television Production in association with the ABC, Film Victoria, the Sundance Channel and Screen Tasmania, and shooting is expected to get underway in coming months.
“It’s also fantastic to see that rising Tasmanian star Shaun Wilson will be directing four of the eight episodes, after directing an episode in season one.”
The budget announcement follows the success of Tasmanian mini-series The Kettering Incident, which won two Logie awards as well as feature films Lion and Tasmanian-set blockbuster The Light Between Oceans.
