Sandy Bay death not suspicious: Tasmania Police

A man who was found dead near a walking track in Sandy Bay did not die in suspicious circumstances.

Tasmania Police confirmed an earlier report of an altercation between two men near the casino is not related to the 78-year-old’s death, which was confirmed on Wednesday.

“Hobart CIB has investigated a report of an altercation between the man and another person – we can now confirm the report of an altercation and the man’s death are not connected,” Hobart CIB detective-inspector Ian Whish-Wilson said.

The elderly was found dead on a walking track in the Nutgrove area on Wednesday morning.

“The man died of natural causes and a report will be prepared for the coroner,” det-insp Whish-Wilson said.

Tasmania Police would like to thank those members of the community who provided information as part of the investigation.
