Alderman van Zetten called on AFL fans to show their support for football in Launceston by attending this weekend's match.
"It's vitally important that we get as many footy fans along this weekend to see the Hawks continue their resurgence in 2017, following their win over Melbourne at the weekend," he said.
Fresh from a victory against the Melbourne Football Club on Sunday, Hawthorn will host Brisbane on Saturday at UTas Stadium.
Ahead of the match Alderman van Zetten called on the AFL to schedule more tier-one opposition teams in Launceston after a string of low attendances in Hobart.
Only 10,064 watched North Melbourne play Adelaide on Saturday.
Alderman van Zetten said he would speak with Hawthorn about scheduling at least two more matches in Launceston.
Last month more than 15,500 watched the Hawks and St Kilda match.
