The colour event raised funds for Megan McGinty’s run across seven states in seven days.

Ms McGinty said Sunday morning’s five-kilometre run at Riverside saw a “massive turnout”. 

“We’re aiming to raise $10,000 for the charity, you have to raise that to participate in the seven marathons,” she said.

“Every 300 metres out on the course is what you would call a colour station, so people will be splattered with powdered paint and when they come back they will be a colourful mess.”

Bravehearts is a charity aiming to protect children from sexual assault. 

“Currently there are one in five children in Australia [that] are sexually assaulted before their 18th birthday,” Miss McGinty said.  

Organisers also ran the same event in Devonport earlier this year and were hoping to reach their overall fundraising goal after the Launceston event on Sunday.
