More than $450,000 has been earmarked to renew the sound system, rigging points for PA installation and audio power.
Alderman Ted Sands also singled out the line item as a priority at Monday’s meeting. He said the distortion factor in the dress circle was “quite apparent” and many patrons had complained.
Earlier this week The Examiner asked readers whether they thought the sound system needed upgrading.
More than 200 people voted with more than 70 per cent agreeing the upgrade was needed.
