The team of six shone at Bonney’s Ski Lakes, near Rockingham, with Shania Browne selected as reserve for the Australian junior team heading to the Ukraine later this year.
Having already been selected at Junior Moomba in Melbourne and represented Australia in the Oz-Kiwi Challenge this season, Shania’s selection followed victories in the under-21 women’s jump and overall and coming second in her trick and third in slalom age competitions.
In the same division, Libby Barr came second in jump and overall. Shania’s brother Matthew won gold in the under-21 men’s jump, bronze in the trick and silver overall.
The Schouten family provided half the team with Peter taking silver in the over-45 men’s jump and overall, Heidi coming sixth in the under-14 girls and Jack also looking forward to competing in next year’s nationals in Goondiwindi, Queensland.
A field of more than 180 skiers represented their states and territories.
