The RIPPA (Robot for Intelligent Perception and Precision Application) travelled up and down beds of broccoli and lettuce, gathered data on plant size and location and did mechanical weeding.
More than 200 people attended the event, including year 11 and 12 students undertaking agricultural courses and almost 40 agriculture students from University of Tasmania.
The event started with a poppy expo and included 10 machinery displays and 25 booths highlighting technology, services, machinery and research and development projects associated with precision agriculture and the dairy industry.
Field demonstrations of RIPPA, a remotely controlled operation session via live feed to Adelaide and a question and answer session highlighting grower experiences with precision agricultural technology filled the afternoon session.
