The 27-year-old spent two days lost in bushland before being found by other bushwalkers on Sunday morning.
She was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital on Monday afternoon where she will stay at least one night on account of a broken ankle.
Inspector Darren Hopkins said that areas such as the Central Highlands could prove dangerous for inexperienced walkers and reminded the public that basic precautions could save lives.
“Weather conditions can change rapidly and injuries can occur unexpectedly,” Inspector Hopkins said.
“It is recommended, especially if hiking alone, that bushwalkers take an emergency device such as a personal locator beacon or EPIRB or a Spot-type device so emergency services can be notified immediately of the distress and know exactly where it is.”
Ten SES workers, five Search and Rescue squad members and four helicopter crew were called upon in the two-day search for the missing walker.
