The rivals swapped tries in the season opener until the Emus took advantage late of a numerical advantage to cross the line twice.
“But it’s alright – there’s no excuses,” Launceston coach Nic Sotiriou, who had lost one of his Bees to injury in the opening play, said.
“We’ll all learn from that. We will come back from this.”
AMC Vikings impressed their coach Ray Burgess on their way to a resilient 33-15 away win over Devonport.
The visitors were forced to defend their line for long periods, but managed twice to capitalise on dropped ball with length-of-the-field tries.

“If you do all that, we’ll roll them – and we did.”
Devonport returned to play after being stripped of a grand final berth when the Bulls were found to have played an ineligible player.
