The Department of State Growth warned that driving between Hobart and Launceston may increase driving time by 30 to 45 minutes due to roadworks along the Midland Highway.
From Perth to Breadalbane, works continue on the highway with speed limits reduced to 60 – 80km/h and some lane closures at the Southern Outlet end.
The Southern Outlet north of the Breadalbane roundabout is still a one-lane each way road. The new highway will be open from the Perth end to the north of Island Block Paving from April 20.
And between Symmons Plains and Perth, roadworks remain at 80km/h with some reductions to 60km/h and 40km/h with the north-bound slow lane overtaking section closed at the Symmons Plains end.
From Tuesday, roadworks will begin or resume:
- on Pipers River Road
- the West Tamar Highway from Corminston Road to Beauty Point
- the Bass Highway from Meander Valley Road Underpass to Illawarra Main Road
- the Esk Main Road
- Lake Leake Road
- Lilydale Main Road
- and Waterhouse Road.
