It was a “bun” fight right until the end with Launceston readers voting three establishments as the best places to buy Easter buns.
Bakery franchise Bakers Delight, along with Trevallyn Gourmet Bakery and Launceston’s Delicacy were the people’s choice for the delicious goodies.
Delicacy owner John Fahey said he was exhausted after more than 4000 individual buns came out of his oven.
“We’ve done over 360 dozen,” he said.
“This is our fifth year (making buns) … this year we started getting orders five weeks before Easter.”
Mr Fahey said his buns were popular due to the balance of cinnamon, all spice and mace.
“The secret to ours is the fruit, the amount of fruit that goes in… they are very, very fruit rich,” he said.
“The glazing makes them very nice too. It is made with with fresh apricot jam that we make here.”
