On Saturday, gallery owner Katherine Brunacci will find out if she has taken out the A’ Design Awards for the third time.
“I’m a finalist, but it’s looking very promising,” Brunacci said.
In 2012, Brunacci’s Gemel earrings won the prize, and in 2015 her Naming Spoon secured her second win. This year she entered her Lantern.
On Friday, April 22, the gallery will celebrate its seventh birthday at the launch of Brunacci’s latest collection.
“(The gallery) started its life as a contemporary jewellery boutique, a majority of the things here are hand made by myself,” she said.
“We did have a few other contemporary jewellers in here but then I started making more and needing more space.”
Brunacci’s latest collection was inspired by the sea.
“There’s a lot of sea imagery and sea shells. Everything is a one off, once it’s gone I don’t repeat it anything, so that brings a bit more demand,” she said.
The collection is planned to have between 20 and 25 pieces, with a lot of bracelets.
“The concept came about November of last year, so I’ve been really strongly working on it since after Christmas in my workshop,” she said.
