Attracting 65 bands from across the country and even a trans-Tasman competitor, the championships will feature a gala concert on Easter Sunday before wrapping up with a soloist competition the following day.
City of Launceston RSL Band will be the only Launceston brass band represented in the championships and has doubled its rehearsal schedule in the lead-up to the event.
Band publicity officer Tony Roper said the bands would be kept busy across the whole Easter weekend.
“Altogether there's five musical appointments they have to do,” Mr Roper said.
“Then there's what they call the inspection where the bands are lined up by their drum major and checked for deportment, cleanliness of instruments, polished shoes, and whether their uniforms are in good condition, so there's a discipline side to it as well as just playing.”
The championships will be held from Easter Friday to Easter Monday at the Princess Theatre, Albert Hall, the Grand Chancellor and Launceston College.
2017 will be the fourth time Launceston has hosted the championships.
