A pile-up involving four or five cars on the opening lap on the straight heading to the hairpin caused a lengthy safety car delay with the race reduced to a two-lap sprint.
Dumbrell in his Holden Commodore VF, took his second win for the Symmons Plains weekend from Todd Hazlewood also in a Commodore and Jack Le Brocq in a Nissan Altima.
The second Super2 series race of the day saw Todd Hazlewood battle pole sitter Dumbrell for the lead off the line through the first two turns with Hazlewood edging his nose in front and Jack Le Brocq slipping underneath Dumbrell at the hairpin to take second on the opening lap.
Matt Chada was lucky to escape unscathed from a spin and Anton de Pasquale slipped off at turn six leading to a safety car.
Hazlewood resumed his lead after the re-start from Le Brocq and Shae Davies with Dumbrell fourth but the first two cars opened up a big gap on the field with Hazlewood held on for a comfortable victory with a great drive in tough conditions.
Le Brocq and Davies gave Nissan their best result in the series with a second and third in a race reduced to 25 laps.
Dumbrell continues to hold a handy lead in the Super2 series championship on 502 points from Hazlewood on 497, Le Brocq on 451 and Will Brown on 352.
Race one in the Aussie Racing Cars went to Jaie Robson taking his maiden win in an action packed race at Symmons Plains in the wet.
James Duckworth and Ben Walsh had some contact in early dicing before Walsh went off at turn 2 while leading the race.
Ross Higgins hit the wall close to the end allowing Robson to cruise to his inaugural victory.
Race 2 proved another incident-packed affair in the wet and slippery conditions with Robson leading early from Craig Woods and James Duckworth.
Charlotte Poynting spun off the track three laps in causing a safety car intervention.
A double file re-start in the wet was full of risk but Robson proved the equal of the tricky conditions holding on for his second win in the category only hours after his first with Blake Sciberra second and Woods third.
Tony Warren took out race one in the Sports GTs in his Mitsubishi Evo 7 from Tasmanian Adam Garwood in his Porsche GT3 and Layton Barker in a Holden Commodore VY. Race time was cut short by the red flag delay with cars only back on track for four minutes and a lap after re-start.
