As of Monday, a 900m stretch of the road changed to two single lanes.
Drivers heading towards the airport are restricted to one lane, with the second lane now used for traffic travelling towards Launceston.
While residents were warned about the changes to traffic conditions, a number of drivers have taken to social media to voice their concern over the potential dangers.
Tricia Ferris said “saw two near-misses there already … there'll probably be head-on collisions because at night it will be hard to see what the changes are, and people might use the oncoming lane as an overtaking lane still”.
Kara Cairns said “please be careful with this set up, especially at night. They have not set up enough reflector barriers to distinguish how the road turns just after the roundabout. I was about 50m from a head on collision last night and almost ended up in the ditch to the side. Lucky!”
