Cyclists have battled a wet and windy day of riding from Devonport to Launceston for the annual Tour de Cure on Wednesday.

They will continue their Tasmania leg on Thursday, heading to St Helens from Launceston, before moving south to Hobart on Saturday.
Melbourne’s Wendy Wood is one of the 175 cyclists participating in the epic ride to raise money for cancer research.
“This is the first year I’ve done the ride. I lost two friends to cancer within four days of each other. One of them had done the ride previously and he was my inspiration.
“It’s been tough but it was beautiful coming down from Devonport to Launceston.”
Tour de Cure is one of Australia’s most well-known cycling events outside professional racing. This year’s ride covers 1270 kilometres through regional communities in Victoria and Tasmania, from Hotham to Hobart.
It aims to raise more than $2.2 million to fund life-saving cancer research, support and prevention programs.
