Acting Director of Infrastructure Services Shane Eberhardt said a mix of the two sealing methods would be used in the Launceston municipality.
“These resurfacing works will prolong the life of these roads by somewhere between 15 and 30 years,” he said.
“It's important preventative maintenance works that we need to undertake to ensure our road network remains in good operational order, and is part of more than $14 million worth of road upgrade and improvement projects undertaken by the City of Launceston in the past three years.
“What we would like to ask motorists is to please be patient as we undertake these works around the municipality, please pay attention to roadwork speed reductions and signage, and to please take extra care in areas where roadworks are being undertaken.”
