As Tasmanian Magpies coach Jon Fletcher had once cooly said, “never in doubt”, but in a trenchant tone after the last single-goal victory, such sentiment could have applied again on Sunday.

That first time at the Silverdome against Southern Force a fortnight earlier was close enough, but the Tasmanians felt more assured 50-49 away over Netball NSW Waratahs.
“We got up a little bit and then let them back in, but we got in for a win, by the goal,” Launceston-based team manager Ann Pearce said.
Breaking the quarter-time deadlock, her side opened up leads at half-time and the last break, but were forced to defend hard in the final term.
Stringing together now five wins on the trot – amid just a short 14-game season – has catapulted the 7-5 Magpies all but into a finals’ position.
Sitting level on points with the Force and one behind the Queenslanders, Pearce will sweat on the rival aspirants’ decidedly tougher finish.
“If we can get one win it would be good, but two wins would help better,” she said.
