A marine wind warning was issued by the Bureau of Meteorology on Sunday for the state, with a gale warning for the South West and Central West coasts, and strong wind warnings elsewhere.
Duty forecaster Rachel McInerney said a cold front was moving eastwards across the Bight on Sunday with some patchy rain expected before heavier weather was predicted to hit Launceston on Monday, with an 80 per cent chance of rain in the morning.
Ms McInerney said the winds are not expected to be damaging, only severe.
Northerly winds of 20 to 30 kilometres per hour will increase to 55km/h in the middle of the day, then ease northwesterly in the early afternoon.
Temperatures will average 13 to 16 degrees overnight, warming to 25 in the afternoon.
But there’s good news ahead with Tuesday fining into a clear and pleasant day – before another cold front appears on Wednesday.
