The Northern Hawks won their first match of the 2017 Tasmanian Netball League season with a convincing 90-38 victory over Devon in their round 2 match at the Silverdome on Saturday.

The Hawks led at each change and were able to shoot a high score despite being down two shooters with Danni Pickett unavailable and Zoe Claridge missing with injury.
“We played Chelsea Mawer in the circle with her sister Ashley who fed her really well,” Northern Hawks 19 and unders coach Kellie Tahiri said. “Danni Devlin did a good job at wing defence and got her hands to a lot of tips and a few intercepts.
“Kate Hyland was player of the match as goal-keeper and rebounded really well and covered the space in the circle.
Tahiri said Devon pressured the Hawks and pushed them defensively, making them work hard for the ball but it was a good team effort for Hawks to notch up 90 goals on the scoreboard.

Northern Hawks 19 and unders also grabbed their first win of the TNL season with a hard-fought 46-43 victory over Devon with goal shooter Olivia Roberts player of the match.
