It will be part of its Statewide Fuel Reduction Program which is aimed at reducing the bushfire risk to help protect lives and communities.
The total area of this burn will be approximately 23 hectares and smoke may persist some days afterwards depending on wind conditions.
During burning operations, the Trevallyn Nature Recreation Area will be closed to public access.
Once the initial burning phase is completed public access to the burn area will be restricted until deemed safe.
The public is asked to obey all track and reserve closures during the day of the burn as well as localised restrictions around the burn block the following days until PWS deem the area safe to re-open.
While the fire intensity will be low, it will generate flames, smoke and ash. Local residents are advised to keep windows shut and avoid outside airing of laundry during the day of the burn.
People with medical conditions are advised to have a personal plan for avoiding smoke from the burn.
Advice is available from the Department of Health and Human Services website www.dhhs.tas.gov.au/peh/alerts/air/precautions or www.asthmatas.org.au
