K9 Cakes is the brainchild of Launceston resident Sue Barker, who has a passion for her furry friends.
“It’s a happy place, it’s about us spoiling them,” she said.
Ms Barker said K9 Cakes was a place people could bring their dogs to socialise and enjoy all of the tasty treats whipped up fresh each day.
There are “pup-cakes”, puppy birthday cakes and muffins all made for dogs.
“I’m a dog lover and I thought it was just an amazing idea,” she said.
Ms Barker said she got the idea from a woman in the US who applied to be on reality TV show Shark Tank.
“She got laughed at but now she has 16 shops all over the States,” Ms Barker said.
Monday was the opening day for the shop, and some of the Launceston RSPCA dogs visited to check out the new specialty store. Ms Barker said dogs had a special place in most people’s hearts.
“A lot of people who don’t have kids, their dogs are their kids, they just love them.”
