ST PATRICK’S DAY is one of the only days a year that you can drink beer in the morning and not be frowned upon. It’s also one of the only days that Guinness tastes good (subjective). Celebrate all things green and Irish and potato at Launceston’s The Irish, from 6am on Friday. The pub’s events schedule kicks off with breakfast and finishes with music. Its line-up includes Schmeltic, the St Andrews Caledonian Pipe Band, Captain O'Briens Craic, and Agent 99.
At the other end of the state, AMY SHARK is taking her debut Australian tour to Hobart. Shark scored the number two slot in Triple J’s Hottest 100 countdown, and announced her Adore tour on the same day. It’s not surprising then, that her Friday gig at the Waratah Hotel is sold out. We only tell you in case you want to beg and plead for a ticket.
Swedish metal lords MESHUGGAH made a surprise inclusion on the Australian 2017 tour, slipping in a cheeky Hobart date this weekend. The band has sold out many of its capital city shows around the country, but tickets are still available for the gig at the Odeon Theatre on Sunday. The band is celebrating 30 years, and touring its new album The Violent Sleep of Reason around the globe. Tickets are available from Oztix for about $70.
The Scots are coming – to FRESH COMEDY. Scotsman Daniel Sloss will be in Launceston next weekend to headline the monthly comedy night at the Royal Oak. Sloss is most noted as being the record holder for the comedian with the most appearance on Conan O’Brien’s talk show. Catch him on Friday, March 24, from 8pm. Tickets are on sale now at trybooking.com for $20.
Legendary Launceston band MUSTANG are gearing up for their final run of shows. The band made its debut on the scene about 20 years ago. Their final gig will be on April 1, at the Gunners Arms in Launceston. They’ll be supported by a bunch of bands from around the country, including Launceston’s own The Styles. Tickets are limited, and available now through Oztix for $45. For Mustang’s Southern fans, the band will also be play at the Brisbane Hotel on March 31. Tickets for this show are also on sale through Oztix.
