Government under pressure with child protection, TasWater

Human Services Minister is expected to be in the Opposition’s sights after a leaked email has suggested that children may be still under the care of out-of-home provider Safe Pathways.

The contracted provider is currently under investigation by the Human Services Department about how it is spending government money after foster carers complained of children receiving improper care.

The ABC obtained an email on Wednesday which suggested Safe Pathways was still operating and had Tasmanian children in its care.

Parliament will start debate today after Question Time on legislation that will see 357,000 hectares of informal reserves opened up to the private sector for logging from 2018.
