The 20-year-old announced a June release date for her much-awaited second album Melodrama earlier this month and has since released two singles, Green Light on March 3 and Liability on March 10.
An intimate three-minute ballad, Liability consists exclusively of vocals and a descending piano line and is in stark contrast to the electro-heavy pop which typified Pure Heroine.
Described by Lorde as being about 'hanging out with myself and loving myself', the track sits comfortably in its vulnerability and offers an insightful look into the psyche and lifestyle of a celebrity.
It’s not the Lorde we came to know and love, but a new Lorde we’ll probably come to know and love anyway.
Melodrama will be released on June 16.
