Premier Will Hodgman outlined the plans on Monday, which included a number of key legislation proposals and projects. They covered jobs, the economy, health, education and social issues.
There would be several bills introduced to parliament, according to the forecast plans, including the Mineral Resources (Amendment) Bill, the Forestry (Unlocking Production Forests) Bill, the Miscellaneous Tax Amendment Bill and the Children, Young Persons and their Families Bill.
Under the health section, the projected plans included the introduction of legislation to streamline prescribing rights for allied health and other health professionals, and the intended completion of the Launceston Ambulance Station capital upgrade.
Under jobs and economic growth, the government pledged to commence building 32 new affordable homes during the second stage of the Private Developer/Shovel Ready Program.
In the supporting Tasmanians in need category, the proposals included the release of the revised carers action plan and the Tasmanian Women’s Strategy 2018 to 2020.
Other plans included completing the sale of Forestry Tasmania’s plantation assets and finalising a new framework for the safe use of fireworks.
In total, there were 121 plans and agenda items under the jobs and economic growth section, 55 under health and education, and 59 under supporting Tasmanians in need.
Premier Will Hodgman said the state economy was growing and the unemployment rate had fallen below 6 per cent.
“Our population is growing at the fastest rate in five years and tourists are coming here in record numbers,” he said.
“We’ve got the budget in balance, so we can afford to continue to invest in essential services such as health, education and supporting Tasmanians who need a hand.
“We know there is still a long way to go and much more to do.
“Deliverables 2017 provides a summary of the actions that we will take over the next 12 months as we continue to deliver our plan and build a brighter future for Tasmania.”
