The works have been completed by the Meander Valley Council, who will receive the funds.
The $80,000 grant was through the 2016-2017 Major Grants Program.
Liberal MHA Mark Shelton said he was pleased to announce the funding, which was used for improving the irrigation and the drainage of the ground.
“The new playing surface will give local sporting teams and recreational groups a safer surface ... reducing the risk of injury to those training and playing,” Mr Shelton said.
Prospect Hawks Junior Football Club president Chris Ryan said the ground looks ready for the upcoming football season, with touch football already playing on the resurfaced field.
“The ground was more or less closed for about three months for the footy season, so the ground could be resurfaced and had some drainage put in and also leveled out a bit more,” Mr Ryan said.
He said it will be beneficial to be able to use the ground during the wet season.
“What happened with our club last year, was the ground was actually in a state where it was unsafe (to play on). We couldn’t use it for some of our training's, but also some of our home day games. So, we had to find alternative grounds,” he said.
“So just by having that redevelopment it just gives us the opportunity to actually use our home ground for what it was designed for.”
Mr Ryan said other things, such as new goal posts, would be installed shortly as an extension of the ground upgrade.
“We’re just happy that it got processed and the grounds are able to be used. We’ve probably got somewhere between 300 and 400 kids playing there of a weekend once the footy season starts. So it’s beneficial for sport in the community.”
Nineteen sport and recreation clubs statewide will receive funding from the grant, with total funding being $860,000.
“Local sport and recreation clubs are an important component of the Tasmanian community, providing places to be social, active and develop skills and values,” Mr Shelton said.
