Peacock leaves it late to make his benchmark
Tasmanian javelin thrower Hamish Peacock secured a qualifying distance for the world championships at the Tasmanian age championships. The 26-year-old Rio Olympian recorded five throws over 80 metres at the Domain in Hobart, leaving it until his sixth and final attempt to reach 83.02m and achieve the benchmark for London in August. It will be a second world championship for Peacock, 26, of UTas, who was also a bronze medallist at the 2014 Commonwealth Games with 81.75m.
