Tasmania has cleaned up at the Australian Tourism Awards, taking home five gold medals, seven silvers and two bronzes.

The awards were held on Friday evening in Darwin.
Launceston’s RiverFly 1864 was awarded gold in the Specialised Tourism Services category while the Tasmanian Walking Company took home a gold medal in the Ecotourism category.
The Old Woolstore Apartment Hotel received a Business Events Venue gold medal, and was also inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Saffire Freycinet and Three Capes Track also took home gold – Saffire in the Luxury Accommodation category and Three Capes for New Tourism Business.
Silver medals were awarded to Pumphouse Point, Josef Chromy Wines, Bruny Island Cruises, Par Avion Wilderness Tours, Great Eastern Drive, Avalon Coastal Retreat, and The Old Woolstore Apartment Hotel.
Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service received a bronze medal in the Major Tourist Attractions section for Freycinet National Park, and Curringa Farm Accommodation received a bronze in the Hosted Accommodation category.
Tourism Industry Council Tasmania chief executive Luke Martin said it was the third year in a row Tasmanian operators had won the most combined medals of any state or territory.
“This tells us when it comes to tourism, we don't just punch above our weight, we are setting the benchmark.
“I'm delighted by the gold medallists. Three capes being named the country's number one new tourism development is a fitting endorsement of what is a world class outstanding visitor experience.”
He also congratulated Riverfly 1864 for its gold medal.
“I'm delighted for Daniel and Simone Hackett. Two young entrepreneurs who have built a successful business out of their passion for fly fishing and Tasmania's environment.
“They represent what tourism is all about - passion, innovation and hard work in creating outstanding visitor experiences.”
The 2016 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards brought together more than 700 industry representatives, as well as state and federal tourism ministers.
The Old Woostore Apartments was inducted into the prestigious Hall of Fame, along with the Northern Territory’s Voyages Ayres Rock Resort, for winning gold three years in a row.
