The musical tribute to Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons is described as an “all-round, feel-good show for the whole family, according to performer Rick Morgan.
“It’s non-stop singing and dancing, with a lot of comedy throughout the show,” Morgan said.
The four-some will play some of the band’s biggest hits, including Big Girls Don’t Cry, Grease and Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.
They have previously played every state and territory down under and have sold out more than 100 shows here. Morgan said he was exited to perform in front of the Tasmanian audiences for the third time.
“We love the audience in Tasmania and Australia because the energy that comes from them is amazing,” Morgan said.
“There was a particular night in Australia when George Solomon was doing Grease, some ladies in the audience weren’t keen on letting him go back on stage to try and finish the number.
“They darn near didn’t let him go, which was pretty fantastic.”
Three of the current members are the originals.
“James (Bullard) joined us a few years back and he has a tremendous voice,” Morgan said.
“When we travel overseas, we always bring and extra guy because there is only four of us on stage. So if one of us gets sick or hurt we’d be in a pinch. You can’t cover up that there is a guy missing.
The performance started eight years ago.
“Now, at any given time we have multiple casts performing the show in different locations. We have almost 40 guys doing the show all around the world.”
Morgan said he had a couple of favourite moments in the performance
“We get to sing two songs acapella, that brings it down to the nuts and bolts. It’s just four guys with no music. It’s kind of back to how The Four Seasons started, just four guys singing on the street corner, with no music accompaniment.
“You can hear a pin drop in most venes when we do these numbers. Being able to grab an audience that much with just four guys singing means a lot to me. It’s so special.”
Morgan said it’s the camaraderie the group has off-stage that comes across on-stage which keeps them coming back.
“The amazing things is when I do the show with a guy I haven’t particularly gotten to work with before, we’re best friends as soon as we meet because it takes a certain type personality and talent to do the show and to have as much fun as we do on stage.”
“You can’t fake that.”
Oh What a Night will be performed on Friday, March 3. Tickets are $59.50, from tixtas.com.au.
