Belinda will lead the Lady Knights against the winner of the Clarence versus North Hobart final to be played on Saturday, while Nathan is an assistant coach and player with New Town. which will take on Burnie in the men’s state T20 decider.
Nathan started his junior cricket with Launceston before moving to South where he played two or three first-grade matches before relocating to Hobart for work reasons.
“I played for South for a few years and consider them my club but mainly played on Sundays because of work commitments,” Nathan said.
“I moved to Hobart when I was 19 in 1997 and played suburban cricket first with Wellington and then TCA with Clarence for about six years and managed to play in a first-grade premiership before moving to New Town where I’m in my ninth season.”
The 39-year-old bowling all-rounder said it was a nice touch that brother and sister were both contesting state grand finals for their respective clubs at the weekend.
“Dad probably takes more pride in it than Belinda and I do but hopefully they can get the chocolates in the first game and we can follow up with a successful game against Burnie,” he said.
“We both went to school at East Ravenswood Primary and Ravenswood High and we always played sport growing up whether it was indoor cricket which we played together and Belinda was always handy against the blokes. You name it – cricket, football, hockey, badminton, athletics – we had a crack at it and we’ve always been a sporting family.”
