“If the Greens continue to go after our salmon industry … then they are going to wipe it out,” she said.
“I’ve had a gutful.”
In early February, Senator Lambie met in Canberra with Australian Workers’ Union national secretary Daniel Walton and Tassal worker Ben Wood to discuss their shared concerns for industry jobs.
Mr Walton said roughly 5000 people “rely” on the Tasmanian salmon industry for work.
Meanwhile, Mr Wood, who works in the D’Entrecasteaux Channel, said about 60 people were employed at his work-site.
“They have all got families and communities and they are all active members [of their communities] and it would be a shame to see an industry destroyed by propaganda,” he said.
The Greens opposed Tassal’s recently-approved Okehampton Bay site on environmental grounds.
