This is the third year that Launceston has hosted its own set of heats for the Raw Comedy competition.
There’s also a southern Tasmanian heat, and three funny folk from each will go through to the state final, where the winner will carry the Tasmanian flag into the national final.
Launceston’s heat will take place at the Royal Oak on Friday, March 3.
Competition co-ordinator and Fresh Comedy producer Stewart Bell said the annual competition had become an important event on the city’s comedy calendar.
"This is the third consecutive year we've held a heat in Launceston and it's critical to unearthing some fresh talent and building a strong comedy community in Launceston," Bell said.
"The competition is great for anyone who wants to try their hand at stand up in front of a warm and supportive audience.
“It's always a lot of fun and we can't wait to see who progresses to the state final."
As well as the hopefuls, attendees will be treated to sets from established Launceston and Tasmanian comedians.
Tickets for this year’s heat are on sale now through trybooking.com for $10, with door sales for $15.
Doors open at 7.30pm, and the show kicks off at 8pm.
