Donald Trump
CARMEN Frelek’s judgement on the media’s treatment of Donald Trump is as bizarre as Mr Trump’s treatment of the fourth estate generally (Letters, February 20). It’s hard to see just how members of the media could be anything but hostile to such an aggressive administration content to describe them as “the most dishonest human beings on Earth” and as “… such lying, disgusting people”.

A more honest assessment of the current situation in the US is that the media is turning; yet they have discovered far too late that their very reason for existence has been turned against them.

Councils and TasWater
I’M NOT sure local government understands the implications of being 'reprimanded' by Treasurer Peter Gutwein on its water and sewerage infrastructure failures.
Councils have been reaping the benefits of dividends from TasWater (which they own) since at least July 2013 and the treasurer is right in stating that water and sewerage infrastructure investment within the councils must increase, for it is totally unacceptable that Tasmanian towns have undrinkable water and sewerage spills at seven times the national average. Yes, it stinks.

Unemployment position
PETER Gutwein paints a rosy picture of Tasmania's unemployment situation (Sunday Examiner, February 19) and if his advices are correct, this sounds good.
Unfortunately, I recently read that Tasmania had some 4000 people who had lost their jobs over the past few months. I understand a person only has to work an hour or two a week to be classed as employed.
So what are we to believe, Mr Gutwein?
You say the unemployment figure is 5.9 per cent but are you allowing for the casuals and under employed people? The figure could be 10 per cent or more. Please Mr Gutwein and indeed all pollies, would you stop blaming the other side for the state's woes.
It get's very tiring and does not add to any solution to a problem.
