Police say initial investigations indicate that the rider failed to stay in the left hand lane on a left-hand bend and crossed the road before colliding with a truck travelling in the opposite direction.
Investigations are ongoing.

EARLIER: A man is in critical condition after his motorbike collided with a truck on the Esk Highway at Fingal on Monday.
Police said it appeared the 36-year-old Queensland man failed to stay in his lane and his bike hit the front wheel of the truck, causing it to overturn on the corner and the bike to leave the road.
Emergency services remain at the scene and the bike rider has been flown to the Royal Hobart Hospital.
A St Marys man driving the truck was not injured in the crash.
Police said speeding or alcohol did not appear to have been a factor.
The road was re-opened at 7pm.
