Ben Brookfield was spotted on Monday lurking around the UTas Newnham campus eyeing off new recruits, but new Launceston City coach rest assured he was satisfied with his lot entering into the 2017 NPL Tasmania season.

“But if you can get some people down there,” he said of the club’s presence at the university’s O Week, “that you didn’t know was around, well that’s always a benefit to us.”
But Brookfield said City are peaking towards the season start, calling overseas buys Irishman Dylan O’Connor, Italian Giuseppe D’Amico and American Dylan Williams“quality players”.
“They are the sort that are going to make the difference, which is what you want from your visa players,” he said.
“You need them to be, so to speak, as good as your best Australian players.
“We’re really happy with that and I think we now have a really good team spirit.”
Riverside’s pitches at Windsor Park will host the final round of the NPL Summer Series on Saturday in Launceston.
Brookfield felt City’s “ball players” put out their best game in the preseason loss to Hobart Zebras.
It was considerable improvement on a 8-0 hammering in the side’s first friendly against South Hobart three weeks earlier.
“Its really exciting for the season to come,” he said.
“We’re working on playing exciting football, but there is always a few areas you need to tighten up.”
